Founding Members

Sophia Wang is a sophomore at McLean High School. She started piano and violin lessons at age 5, and is currently studying violin with Emil Chudnovsky. Sophia is a member of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO) and 2025 Virginia All State Orchestra. She also won second place at the Maryland Music Teachers Association Spring Festival in 2024. With a passion for music and community service, Sophia Wang founded the Frost Quartet with friends and fellow orchestra members at Frost Middle School. She is a member of her high school’s cross country team. During her free time, she enjoys painting, photography and cooking.


Clive Song is currently a sophomore at C.G Woodson High School and lives in Fairfax, Virginia. He started playing the violin at age 9, and currently studies with Dr. Laura Kobayashi. Clive is currently an active member of the Philharmonic Orchestra at Woodson High School and the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO). He was also a member of the Junior District Orchestra and the Senior District Orchestra. In addition to playing the violin, he strives to make a difference in his community. He also enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and the performing arts.


Andrew Lam is a 9th-grade student at Thomas Jefferson High School with a passion for music. He began playing the piano at the age of five and the viola at nine. Currently, Andrew studies viola under the guidance of Fang Qi. Andrew is an active member of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO) and has held principal positions throughout his journey:

In addition to his orchestral achievements, Andrew enjoys participating in community outreach music programs, especially those that serve the elderly and individuals with disabilities.


Joel Sohn, a ninth-grade cellist from Fairfax, Virginia, is currently attending Thomas Jefferson High School. Over the past six years, Joel has honed his craft as a cellist, making significant strides in his musical journey. He is an active member of various ensembles and youth orchestras, using his talent to enrich and serve the local community. Beyond his work with groups, Joel also thrives as a soloist, showcasing his dedication and passion for music.

Micaela Bodian is a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. She plays viola in the school’s Symphonic Orchestra and was recently accepted into the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO). In addition to playing the viola, Micaela enjoys volunteering, running, and writing.
